Acanthocephala declivis - This leaf-footed bug measured 34mm from the tip of its tylus (pointy projection on the head, between the antennae) to the end of its abdomen. One of the most distinguishable features of this species is how expansive the humoral angles are--the widest part of the leaf-footed bug's pronotum. Although not obvious in these photographs, the fourth antennal segment is also paler than the first three, unlike the constant reddish-brown antennal coloring of Acanthocephala femorata.
Acanthocephala declivis - This is a very close-up shot of the same leaf-footed bug as in the above photo. This bug's eye was about the size of a grain of sugar.
