Bombus impatiens - This is the same queen bumble bee as in the above photo. Yellow, wind-blown oak pollen can be seen on the tips of some of the bumble bee's setae (hairs) and scattered along the tile walkway. Flower pollen is normally collected in the corbicula, a pollen-trapping, hair-surrounded, bare section of the hind tibiae of most queen and worker bumble bees. This queen's empty corbicula can be seen here (left-center).
