Urbanus proteus proteus - sipping nectar from a flower. Note the blue-green coloring on the back of the butterfly. Its long "tails" can be seen extending behind the butterfly.

Urbanus proteus proteus - This is the same butterfly as the above photo. In this photo, you can clearly see its proboscis looped in front of the butterfly's head. When the butterfly is not feeding or drinking, the proboscis is coiled up tightly and can barely be seen. While feeding and drinking, the proboscis is extended outward into the center of a flower or other feeding/drinking source.
